New Delhi, January 16, 2016. The next edition of the Attakkalari India Biennial, South Asia’s largest and most important international festival for contemporary dance and movement arts, will be held between February 3th and 12th, 2017. The Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi is proud to partner the festival aiming to encourage young, upcoming and talented dance-makers created a stronger and vibrant dance community.
This edition will contain many masterclasses, workshops and other lead-up
activities which would integrate the dance enthusiastic public into the festival. The festival will be a 10-day long event of engagement with contemporary movement and digital arts to see the coming of age of contemporary movement in Bengaluru and India, and its emerging role as a strong cultural component in the world of performance and affiliated arts.
Attakkalari, Centre for Movement Arts is an umbrella organization formed in 1992 by artists from different disciplines. The aim of the organization is to help stimulate the growth of a vibrant contemporary performing arts scene in India, to demystify the movement art form, and to make it accessible to all sections of society.
