Embassy of Russian Federation in India is hosting the launching ceremony of the book “Russian Civilisation and Islam” written by Professor Arun Mohanty, Director, Eurasian Foundation, Centre for Russian & Central Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University on February 28.
The ceremony will be hosted at the White Hall of the Russian Embassy in New Delhi in the presence of Chargé d’Affairs Mr Anatoly Kargapolov and the special guests of the event Ambassador Asoke Mukerji, Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Rector of JNU Prof. Chintamani Mahapatra and Prof. Dr S.A.M. Pasha, Head, Department of Political Sciences, Jamia Millia Islamia.
This volume is the first attempt in India to make a profound analysis of Islam in Russia, its contribution to the Russian civilization and spirituality. The book provides indispensable expertise of ethno-confessional composition of Russian population, relations between the state and Islam over centuries, the role of Islam in shaping domestic and foreign policy of the country and revival of Islam in the post-Soviet Russia. The book will be of particular interest for the experts on Russia, foreign policy analysts and the country-research students.
